IHE Delft aims to make water education accessible to an increasing number of students and professionals. The Institute therefore offers online and on-campus short courses, a diploma programme and open courseware on a wide array of topics.

Short, intensive and highly specialized courses

IHE Delft conducts a wide range of short, intensive and highly specialized courses which are aimed at upgrading and refreshing the knowledge and skills of mid-career professional and senior experts. Short courses are meant for professionals –or groups of professionals– with a specific area of interest and a limited amount of time. The focus and content of short courses vary from specialised and technical matters to challenges and approaches in management.

Other courses

IHE Delft offers a variety of training courses, open educational resources (OER) and MOOCs in collaboration with esteemed partner universities and organizations, including Delft University of Technology, University of Geneva, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), UNICEF, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). While some of these courses are offered free of charge, others may involve a tuition fee.

Graduate Professional Diploma Programme in Humanitarian WASH

IHE Delft and UNICEF as lead of the Global WASH Cluster, in cooperation with the Humanitarian Sector, aim to extend the provision of humanitarian WASH education by offering a Graduate Professional Diploma Programme (GPDP). The GPDP consists of 4 online courses. The deadline to apply for this programme is extended (from 1 April) to 15 April 2025.

IHE Delft is committed to solving the world's water crisis by educating the water leaders of the future, particularly those from developing countries and countries in transition. The demand by far exceeds the number of professionals that the Institute can educate. IHE Delft aims to bridge this gap by making education available for free on its Open Education Platform.

Graduate Professional Diploma Programmes

The Graduate Professional Diploma Programme (GPDP) targets professionals who seek to sharpen their knowledge and know-how in specific fields. Participants follow a sequence of online courses and/ or on-campus short courses. The courses can be followed part-time, without interrupting a daytime career.

MOOC on Water Cooperation and Diplomacy

The University of Geneva, Geneva Water Hub and IHE Delft have jointly launched a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Water Cooperation and Diplomacy. The course is offered on Coursera and is geared to anyone interested in addressing challenges related to transboundary water cooperation and diplomacy.
